INTER-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION
SLOVENIA
Since 2014 the Intergovernmental Organization EDU and IFIMES – the Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies have been jointly promoting Peace and Education through the means of a formal Memorandum of Understanding to that effect.
The Secretary-General of EDU has been impressed by the steady stewardship of this partner organization under his opposite number and colleague, Budimir Lončar. IFIMES is also the publisher of the international scientific journal European Perspectives.
Drawing on his vast diplomatic experience which included serving the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia as both an Ambassador and as Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President of IFIMES has overseen the development of an influential organization for the promotion of peace.
Ably assisted by two Vice- Presidents, Zoran Živković, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Prof. Dr. Ernest Petrič, former President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, he has attracted an Advisory Board of some considerable standing and talent from such diverse backgrounds as diplomacy, politics, law, the military and education.
To illustrate the growing importance of IFIMES, the EDU Secretary-General has formally accepted a role on the Advisory Board at IFIMES.
