Secretary-General H.E. Irving Levance meets Dr. Wedigo de Vivanco in Berlin
Whilst in Berlin recently, His Excellency met with a much valued member of the EDU Assessment Committee, Dr. Wedigo de Vivanco, to thank him personally for his support and efforts to this Intergovernmental Organization.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed recent developments in EDU, its special status as an Intergovernmental Organization, the opportunities and privileges accorded by such status, forthcoming events and overall aspects concerning accreditation, an area in which Dr. de Vivanco is a world respected figure.

Dr. de Vivanco was Dean of International Affairs at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, a position he held for nearly two decades.

He was responsible for all international relations affecting the university as well as public relations and protocol.
From 1983 to 1987, Dr. de Vivanco taught German History at the University of London, UK, followed by a position as deputy director of the German American Exchange Service (DAAD) office in New York. Later, as director of the same office, he oversaw operations in the U.S. as well as Canada. During his time in America, Dr. de Vivanco also served on the advisory boards of a number of Centres for German and European studies, including those of Georgetown University, Harvard University, Princeton University and University of California-Berkeley.
Dr. de Vivanco has also served as President of the European Association for International Education (EAIE), as well as a board member on a number of other organisations including Stiftung Luftbrückendank, Berlin Biomedical Exchange Office, Freundeskreis Amerika Haus Berlin and the Advisory Council on New Programmes for the DAAD. Dr. Wedigo de Vivanco holds a joint doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in history and political science from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany.
